Just a Mom?

I saw this at work back in May and made a copy. I ran across it while I was looking for some other paperwork and thought I would share it with you.

Just a Mom?

A women, renewing her driver's licence, was asked by the women at Registry to state her occupation. She hesitated, uncertain how to classify herself.
'What I mean is,' explained the woman at the registry, 'do you have a job or are you just a...?'
'Of course I have a job,' snapped the woman. 'I'm a MOM'
'We don't list Mom as an occupation, 'housewife' covers it,' said the recorder emphatically.

I forgot all about her story until one day I found myself in the same situation. The clerk was obviously a career women, poised, efficient, and possessed of a high sounding title like, 'Official Interrogator' or 'City Registrar.'
'What is your occupation?' she probed.
What made me say it? I do not know. They words simply popped out. 'I'm a Research Associate in the field of Child Development and Human Relations'
The clerk paused, ball-point pen frozen in midair and looked up as though she had not heard right.
I repeated the title slowly emphasizing the most significant words. Then I started with wonder as my pronouncement was written, in bold black in on official questionnaire.
'Might I ask,' said the clerk with new interest, 'just what do you do in your field?'
Coolly, without any trace of fluster in my voice, I heard myself reply, 'I have a continuing program of research, (what mother doesn't)In the laboratory and the field, (normally I would have said indoors and out)I'm working for for my Masters, (first the Lord and then the whole family) and already have four credits (four daughters). Of course, the job is one of the most demanding in the humanities, (any mother care to disagree?) And I often work 14 hours a day, (24 is more like it). But the job is more challenging than most run-of-the-mill careers and the rewards are more of the satisfaction rather than just money.'
There was an increasing note of respect in the clerk's voice as she completed the form, stood up, and personally ushered me to the door.
As I drove into our driveway, buoyed up by my glamorous new career, I was greeted by my lab assistants-- age 13,7,and 3. Upstairs I could here our new experimental model, (a 6 month old baby) in the child development program, testing out a new vocal pattern. I felt I had scored a beat on bureaucracy! And I had gone on the official records as someone more distinguished and indispensable to mankind than 'just another Mom'
Motherhood!
What a glorious career!
Especially when there's a title on the door.

You "bake" me happy!

I had about 10 minutes to throw some tags together to deliver with some bread.
This was what I ended up doing, I kept them VERY simple!
I used my From My Kitchen cartridge and Robyn's Sweetest Cupcakes stamp set.

I had such a good time at Robyn's last weekend, but the weekend was too short :(
I am off tomorrow to Utah for a Bridal Shower and to find a dress for my daughter and I for the wedding.
Wish me luck, I am not a big fan of dress shopping!!! LOL!

I can't wait until I get back and can play with all of the new cartridges I have picked up over the last couple of months but haven't had a chance to play with!

Bridal Shower Invitations

These are the invitations for my future sister in law's bridal shower.
I used my Sweethearts cartridge and cut the umbrella out at 4 inches
and I used Robyn's Invitation Only stamp set for the words.

I downloaded this picture from the web and then I put it into a word document, made it more transparent and then made it the background and then I was able to type over it the information for the bridal shower.
I made 70 invitations, and I loved how they turned out I just underestimated how long it was going to take me to glue each of the hearts on individually!!
Hope you all enjoy!

Slowly getting back on track

So cute! My little girl is taking Golf Lessons this summer and loving it! It is a great class because they teach so much more than golfing.

I have learned my lesson NEVER to be gone for 3 weeks in a row!!!
I started out being gone for girls camp ( I got to be the camp nurse) then home for less than 24 hours before heading out to Robyns! (Had lots of fun at Robyn's and enjoyed the travel company when we all drove to my house) Home again with Robyn and her kids but she was sick and all we got to do was go to dinner and sleep. Got her family off in the morning and then I left a few hours later to help with some family issues. Glad I was able to help but wasn't planning on the extra trip.  Ended up meeting my husband in his home town for a great 4th of July weekend.  I came home from the 4th to LOTS ( like 42 loads hehe I have been counting) of Laundry, appointments and a back log of stuff to do for the office.

I have been working like a mad woman to get caught up, and I am so excited that I am almost there. I am going with my Husband to a class in AZ and I am bringing office stuff to finish up with and the 70 yes I said 70 Bridal shower invitations.  I know that my hubby is going to wonder why I am bringing my Cricut but I gotta have it for the invites.

So I should be back up and posting regularly next week! And I can't wait for next weekend when I get to go to Robyn's  house!!!!
